Dril-Quip is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of offshore drilling and production equipment. They design and manufacture subsea, surface and offshore rig equipment for oil and gas companies in offshore areas throughout the world. They’ve been based in Macaé, Brazil since 2000 and in 2012 were awarded a $650m contact by Petrobras to supply subsea wellhead systems. In order to deliver this four year contract, Dril-Quip needed to recruit a new materials engineer. The challenge was to locate a suitable candidate with the right educational background, technical knowledge and a track record of working with subsea equipment. Dril-Quip was handling the recruitment of the role, but as a result of networking with the HR manager at an industry event, Michael Page Oil & Gas were able to demonstrate the value that we could add to the process.
Within five minutes of establishing a relationship with Dril-Quip, we were able to present the CV of a candidate that we’d recently met, with the required experience. Within a day, we had submitted five CVs for review. Keen to move quickly, the HR manager and engineering manager interviewed and offered the role to the original candidate the day after her CV had first been seen. She accepted the role and is now employed by Dril-Quip as a materials engineer in Macaé.
Dril-Quip were pleased with the quick pace of the recruitment process and Michael Page Oil & Gas are currently recruiting a further three management positions for the organisation.
