Bridge Energy, UK

Bridge Energy, UK

Scenario:
Bridge Energy is an independent operator, dual-listed in Norway and on the AIM with assets in both the UK and Norwegian sectors of the North Sea. They needed to recruit a principal geologist and principal geophysicist to manage the exploration of an existing portfolio of assets. PageGroup had worked with Bridge Energy previously to recruit finance candidates, but this was the first opportunity to partner on technical roles. Their UK headquarters are located three doors down from PageGroup’s Aberdeen office, so we were well placed to lead their talent attraction campaign.
Solution:
Bridge Energy specified candidates would have to have North Sea experience – a challenge given the market is candidate-short, with 100% employment in the region. Michael Page Oil & Gas pitched a combined search and selection and advertised solution to provide access to the widest range of candidates, and we were retained to manage the recruitment process. We approached the relevant individuals from a short target list of competitor organisations, and managed a full advertising campaign which included press, online and social advertising. Given the specialist nature of the roles, we didn’t present full shortlists to our client but shared the details of relevant candidates on a rolling basis. Individuals were sourced equally from advertising responses and approaches to passive candidates. Bridge Energy’s operating position meant that while candidates were attracted by the opportunity to get involved in exploration that could quickly move to development and production, aspects of the package weren’t in line with some of the more established players. Bridge Energy compensated for this by offering a very competitive LTIP share scheme.
Outcome:
As part of the campaign, Michael Page Oil & Gas identified two candidates who progressed through all of the interview stages and were offered and accepted the geologist and geophysicist roles. Both have now joined by Bridge Energy.
